Burns Night quiz

What’s included

• 20 questions with space to write each answer

How to play

1. Split into teams and print one question sheet per team. The host keeps the answer sheet.
2. Run the quiz between the main course and pudding, or after the toasts.
3. Swap sheets for marking while the answers are read out.
4. A point for each correct answer. The winners get the last of the cranachan.

Tips

• Mix Burns experts and first-timers in each team.
• Accept ‘turnip’ for neeps: in Scotland the words are used for the same vegetable.
• Have a copy of Burns’ poems handy for settling arguments.

Printing tips

• Print at 100% or “Actual size” rather than “Fit to page”, so nothing gets trimmed.
• Everything is A4. If your printer only takes US Letter, choose “Fit to page” instead.
• Thicker paper (120–160gsm) feels nicer to write on and survives a night out; plain 80gsm is fine too.
• Black and white works: the designs are made to stay clear without colour.
