What’s included

  • 16 challenges with tick boxes, worth 5 to 20 points each
  • Team name and total boxes
  • 1 A4 page, designed to print well in colour or black and white

How to play

  1. Print one sheet per child or team and hand out pencils.
  2. Agree which rooms are in the game and which are out of bounds (the present cupboard, for example).
  3. Children search for each thing on the list and tick it off when they find it. They can bring it back or just show a grown-up.
  4. Add up the points at the end. The highest score wins, or everyone who finishes gets a treat.

Tips

  • Hide a few extras beforehand (a chocolate coin, a toy reindeer) so younger children have some easy finds.
  • Set a timer for 20 minutes to keep it lively.
  • Pair little ones with older children so everyone can read the list.

Printing tips

  • Print at 100% or “Actual size” rather than “Fit to page”, so nothing gets trimmed.
  • Everything is A4. If your printer only takes US Letter, choose “Fit to page” instead.
  • Thicker paper (120–160gsm) feels nicer to write on and survives a night out; plain 80gsm is fine too.
  • Black and white works: the designs are made to stay clear without colour.
